Sylphon Type Steam Trap is a type of thermostatic steam trap. The trap works by expanding and condensing of the steel plug that is inside the chamber. The trap has a body with spring on top of it connected to the plug and the plug sits in the seating blocking the entrance. Once the water has entered into the chamber, the valve is open and it allows for the water to flow through. The CS16H Sylphon Steam Trap is one of the type of materials used for making the trap. When steam enters the trap, it excerpts much heat than the hot water. This allows for the plug to expand and to block the outlet. The steam starts to condense and the heat is released. Once the temperature is low, the steel plug condenses as well. With this, the spring allows for the plug to leave the valve and the valve is open.

The Stainless Steel Sylphon Type Steam Trap can come in different material types. The body is made up of WCB or stainless steel with the bonnet in the same material. The cap, screen and disc are made up of stainless steel. This type of trap has excellent air discharge capacity because it resists overheating. This type of thermostatic steam traps works by the welded stainless steel thermostatic element expanding with heat and contracting with cold. When the air and condensation water is getting into the valve body, the valve is in the "open" status.And after they have gotten into it,the thermostatic element will expand and close the trap tightly.
