Sandwich Valves are called that because of the design that resembles a sandwich. There are two halves of the valves that connect inside the valve body and a plug is inserted in between the two halves to regulate the fluid flow. The Sandwich Ball Valves have a ball instead of the a plug. Either type has similar function and components except for the ball and the plug. The valve has an actuator which is used to raise and lower the threaded stem that is connected to the valve member plug or ball. The bonnet holds the stem and supporting screws and nuts. The Sandwich Check Valves also have the plug seat inside the body which is connected horizontally aligning with the pipeline. The seat has an opening into which the plug will lower and raise controlling the flow.

The size of the valves vary from 2 inches to 56 inches. The pressure rating of the valves vary from 150 to 900lbs. the design pressure is up to 2500lbs. The larger the diameter of the inlet and outlet, the lower the pressure capacity would be. The Sandwich Hydraulic Valves have flanged ends for connection with flanged pipe ends. The operation of the hydraulic valves is by means of hydraulic systems while manually operated valves are available. The maximum operating temperature of the valves is at 82 degrees Celsius. These valves are made up of high strength steel materials. The Hydraulic Sandwich Valves can be made up of ASTM A516 grade. The applications include water, oil and gas, petroleum, petrochemical and many other industrial applications.
