Adjustable Constant Temperature Type Steam Trap is applied horizontally in a pipe system. The trap has condensate inlet, condensate outlet, valve, valve head and the seating with oil filled element lock nut and adjustment unit with an overload spring. The operation is automatic and does not require much of manual interference. The Temperature Control Traps can be made up of different types of materials depending on the maximum temperature the trap has to deal with. The seat allows the condensate in to get the hot liquid onto the valve head. The valve is fitted with an oil filled element that is connected to the spring horizontally. Once the inlet has steam, the steam is tapped around the valve and the valve is in closed position.

The Constant Temperature Type Steam Trap gets pressure built up by the steam and the steam starts to condense. The valve opens when there is enough liquid to push the valve to the open position and the spring is loaded backwards allowing the condensate to flow through the outlet. Once the Bimetal-type temperature control steam traps come into the open position and the condensate has gone out, the valve comes back to closing position the trapping the steam in place. There are different material made traps but the Cast Steel Temperature Control Traps are most commonly used. The applications are mostly in the oil and gas and the petroleum industrial applications.
