Lever Ball Float Type Steam Trap allows steam to condense and to circulate into the system as water. It traps the steam so that the steam does not enter the pipelines in the gas state. The trap has a thermostatic air vent that allows the steam into the SS Ball Float Steam Trap, a chamber with a floating ball, an outlet valve and the casing. The air vent is at the top end of the body and the outlet valve is at the bottom of the body. Once the steam enters through the inlet into the chamber, it starts to condense as the ball locks the outlet and there is no water inside the chamber. Once the steam starts to condense, the ball floats in the condensed water.

As the Ball Float Steam Traps have a threshold to open the valve after the water has raised above the outlet valve, the ball opens the valve with a lever attached to the valve and the ball. The water is released. Once the water level goes below the outlet valve level, the Float Type Steam Trap ball lowers with water and the lever closes the valve. The water flow stops and the steam continues to accumulate into the chamber and to condense. The cycle repeats throughout the operation making it not necessary to manually regulate or adjust. The Carbon Steel Floating Ball Steam Trap is one of the most common in terms of the materials used for the production of these traps. Depending on the application requirements, the sizes, pressure capacities and the dimensions of the traps vary.

When trap is cool, the air vent opens wide for continuously discharging initial air. As cold condensate enters the trap, the float rises to allow discharge of condensate from valve port and both air and condensate from orifice. once all initial air and cold condensate have been discharged, the equipment which is connected to the steam trap reaches the operation temperature.
