Butterfly Valves are gate valves but the gate does not rise or lower into the valve body for the control of liquid flow. The gate is made in a disc shape with the center attached to an axis that connects to the handle outside the body. The gate resembles a butterfly with central axis and two wings. The Butterfly Control Valves are used to control the flow of fluids in most applications such as water, oil and others. The valves do not get the water hammer effect as they never leave the valve chamber and are always in contact with the fluid. The perpendicular turn inside the body against the axis of fluid flow controls the space opened inside the pipe and controls the flow. The Butterfly Check Valves are used in maintenance systems.

These valves can come in different sizes. There are smaller diameter valves and larger diameter valves. These valves are efficient against low viscosity fluids. High viscosity fluids can block the Butterfly Gate Valves as the valve gate is always fully present in the seating. The materials used are the austenitic stainless steel types. These are some of the cheapest and most commonly used valves. These Teflon Lined Butterfly Valves are valves with an additional Teflon protective layer for corrosion resistance and wear and tear resistance both from the environment and the material flowing inside.
