Inverted Bucket Type Steam Trap operates by the basic principles of steam being less dense than the liquid. The system is a mechanical trap that works with an upside down bucket that has a bleed hole on top. The bucket is place right up on the inlet into the chamber and covers the incoming air or steam. Once the inlet allows the condensate inside, the BT-16 Inverted Bucket Steam Trap gets all the condensate with steam in it. The steam makes the bucket to float inside the camber. A lever attached to the outlet valve simple moves towards the closing position. Once the bucket has raised enough, the outlet valve is closed. As the 200 Series Inverted Bucket Steam Traps are in the closed position, the steam is allowed to escape through the bleed hole on top of the bucket into a cone shaped top of the chamber, there the steam has no place to move and starts to condense under the pressure built up by the inflow of the liquid.

Once the steam has escaped the bucket and has condensed, the bucket lowers into the 800-813 Series Inverted Bucket Steam Traps and the lever attached opens the outlet valve.
