Globe valves are made with a globe like structure that has a plug inside it to open and close the circulation. The globe valves are different from the ball valves. The ball valves have balls that turn around to open and close the system while the Globe Control Valves have a plug that descents into the opening in the metal structure inside the body. The Api 623 Globe Valves can come with metal ring joint, spiral wound gasket with filler and corrugated metal with graphite facings for the gasket part of it. The API 623 valves are usually larger diameter valves used in high fluid flow systems. Though the valves are called globe valves, many valves do not necessarily have globe shape body to qualify as globe valves. The valve sizes can range from 2 inches to 18 inches and more in diameter in general. There are pressure classes ranging from class 150 to class 2500 in the Actuated Globe Valves. These are used in systems where vibration, cavitation and leakages are prone because this type of valve eliminate the possibilities of these effects.
