Ductile iron valves can be used in high stress piping systems. The material is highly ductile and does not break at stress. The material can perform up to 730 degrees Celsius operating temperature range. The nodule shaped graphite in the metallurgic microstructure helps the material to achieve the mechanical properties. The ductile iron ball valves are some of the most used in daily life applications. There are domestic, commercial and industrial applications that use the valves in different conditions and under different circumstances. The different types of valves include the ductile iron plug valves which are used to regulate bidirectional as well as unidirectional flows inside piping systems.

GGG50 Cast Iron Ball Valve
The plug valves have a plug inside the valve body that regulates the flow. There are other types such as the gate valves which use a gate to regulate the flow. The gate is connected to a stem and the stem is connected to the handwheel that operates the valve.
The ductile iron butterfly valves are gate valves that have gates in the shape of a butterfly. The gate is a disc that is connected to a central disc to facilitate the bidirectional flow. There are different types of ductile iron pipe valves such as check valves which allow only unidirectional flows.
