Alloy Steel Valves are used in various applications such as water lines, oil and gas transmission lines, chemical, petrochemical, food processing and in power generation plant applications. The alloys vary in mechanical and physical properties by the differences in the chemical compositions. The low alloy steel valves are made up of less alloyants. Although these alloys have higher mechanical properties than the ordinary stainless steel material, they are limited with their temperature capacities, corrosion resistance and the strength values. High alloy materials such as monel and Inconel perform better and have higher mechanical properties. Their cost is also higher. The Alloy Steel gate Valve is used in applications where the ordinary steel could not survive.
Alloy Steel Valves
ASTM A217 Low Alloy Steel Gate Valve
Alloy Steel Globe Valve
Applications include chemical, steam, food and acid processing industrial pipelines. These need corrosion resistant, high pressure high temperature capable strong material made valve. The different types of alloy steel valves include the alloy steel globe valve which uses an alloy globe inside the body to regulate the flow. There are unidirectional and bidirectional valves.
The unidirectional valves allow the passage of fluids only in one direction where the bidirectional valves can control the flow in both directions. The alloy steel plug valve uses a plug instead of a gate or ball to control the flow. The plug sits in the seating at the closing position. The plug is moved away from the seat to open the valve. The plug is often made up of more ductile materials and could be coated with PTFE. The sizes and pressure rantings of the valves vary from ½ inches onwards and from 150lbs onwards depending on the standard specifications.
