ASTM A217 Gr. WC9 Valves are made under ASTM A217 specification which covers low alloy valves that can operate under high temperatures and pressures. The alloy group can be made up of carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, chromium and molybdenum in the composition. The astm a217 grade WC9 Relief and safety Valves are used for safety systems to protect the pipelines from bursting under heavy pressure. The valves bleed when the pressure in the system exceeds the intended threshold pressure. The WC9 material is a 2 ½ chromium and 1 molybdenum composition along with other elements permitted for this low alloy group.

The ASME SA217 Grade WC9 Valve can operate up to 593 degrees Celsius operating temperatures. The valves can be of different types such as angle valves, check valves, relief valves, safety valves or gate valves. The astm a217 gr WC9 Gate Valves have a body, stem, handle and a gate inside the body. The gate is lowered into the body by the rotation of the stem through handle operation.
